Character and identity

The Silo D area will cater mainly to the residents living within the community but will also be accessible for visitor use such as business use in the rental unit scheme in the Silo-D building.

The placement of the parks adjacent to the community centre will allow the residents to take advantage of the site for activities such as small local events, food stalls and much more.

Proposals for the open space area include a children's playground, street food market stalls, open relaxation areas, water play zones and community art areas.

  • Altogether the area will propose our vision for creating an innovative place for communities and businesses

Accessibility

  • The site has a strong promenade link with the main entrance from millennium mills (north) connecting the two historical buildings even though they seem far in distance.

  • The bridge between the play zone and the commercial floating hubs connects the two areas together so the water Is less of a barrier.

  • Inside the site, walking and cycling are encouraged as no other form of transport can access inside this part of the Silo-D site. This keeps pedestrians safe from vehicle accidents and also contributes to less pollution in the area, (noise and air). This contributes to objective 3 (sustainability).

  • However, there are bus stops around the site located at its south entrance if needed for arrival to the site and the car route going in the site is only for residential use
