Regeneration history

LDDC-  The London Docklands Development Corporation aim was to aid and secure the regeneration of the London Docklands area. The LDDC had the power to help planning processes, such as participation, to encourage fast developments.

Peoples plan-  Locals highlighted that building an airport would ruin any chance of using the dock water to form gathering opportunities. The LDDC insisted on building the airport, which they thought would regenerate the local area. The area is not seen as a community gathering zone due to the aeroplane hazards and so have not benefitted the locals.

PEACH Plan -  Consisting of local people empowering in nearby Custom House. They support each other to build their strength as a community, to promote their opinion on planning decisions for where they live. The ideas that the group have put forward are characteristic of the surrounding area in respect to the history of the docklands and on creating a safe environment.

Lendlease- The Lendlease Proposal was proposed in 2014, focusing on the Silvertown Quays area. It recognises the Silvertown Quays potential.  Their plan includes building 3,000 residential units, 179,000sqm of employment space, a public realm, a new primary school, better connectivity within and around the site, access to the water, more facilities and affordable homes. The design aims to be the most effective use of the site.
