The Millenium Mills site is located within the Royal Docklands are just north of the River Thames. The site falls within the London Borough of Newham in East London.

The site's unique location and context of the area presents a great opportunity for a large scale mix-use redevelopment.

Context of the Area

The Millenium Mills site is located directly by a large body of water, marked in blue. The waterfront is both an advantage and barrier for the site. The site's blue network offers a vast number of opportunities for site's redevelopment. However, such large amounts of water limit the site's accessibility and can pose a flooding risk to the area.

The Royal Docklands has an existing exhibition centre (ExCel), which provides leisure opportunities for visitors and residents. The centre has has been key in bringing in visitors to the site. The centre is an opportunity to further attract businesses into the area.

Marked in yellow is London City Airport. The site falls directly under the flight path for City Airport. This limits the building heights for developments on the site and raises concerns of noise pollution and disruption to future residents of the redevelopment site.
